It’s back to our roots….
BigDaddy’s cultivates the rich soil of Black Hammock on historic cropland that for 100 years was the backbone of Oviedo’s economy beginning in the 1800’s. 'BigDaddy’, as he was affectionately known to three generations of Oviedians, Charles Roy Clonts grew up on a hard scrabble farm in north Georgia. He moved his young family to Oviedo in 1923. Starting with a small plot of celery, he expanded to form an agricultural company which produced Florida vegetables for over 7 decades; but, he always grew a garden patch to be graciously shared with friends and neighbors.
Now, almost 100 years after BigDaddy planted his first seedlings, his grandson is again planting celery in Oviedo. And, just as BigDaddy started small, this revival is to be small in the best of ways. So, it's back to our roots because it’s a way to do what BigDaddy loved….feed our neighbors well.
